Kim Mniszewski, the president of FX Engineering, Inc., has over 40 years experience in fire/explosion investigation, reconstruction and Fire Protection Engineering. He holds both a B.S. in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering and a Master of Gas Technology Engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology. His engineering certifications include those of Registered Professional Engineer is the states of Illinois and Michigan. Other certifications include that of Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI), Certified Fire/Explosion Investigator (NAFI) and Registered Gas Distribution Professional.
Mr. Mniszewski is a past member of the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) Technical Committee on Fire Investigations (NFPA 921), serving for nine years, and is still involved in task group activities. He is a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Single- and Multiple-Station Alarms and Household Fire Alarm Systems (part of NFPA 72). Mr Mniszewski is also involved in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, the National Fire Protection Association Industrial Section and the International Pyrotechnics Society.
Prior to his present position, Mr. Mniszewski spent eleven years with Triodyne Fire and Explosion Engineers and Varley-Campbell & Associates, where his work involved both fire protection engineering and forensic fire/explosion investigation. Before that, he spent ten years as a Research Engineer with the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute (IITRI). His work there included government and industrial research projects involving hazards analysis, risk assessment, fire protection engineering problems, smoke detection technology, gas industry fire/explosion problems, explosives technology and explosive device development (military & civilian).
