Kim R. Mniszewski, P.E., CFI, CFEI
Kim Mniszewski, President of FX Engineering, Inc., is a seasoned fire and explosion investigation expert with more than 40 years of experience in forensic analysis, reconstruction, and Fire Protection Engineering. He holds a B.S. in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering and a Master of Gas Technology Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Mr. Mniszewski is a Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois and Michigan and maintains multiple industry certifications, including, Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI), Certified Fire/Explosion Investigator (NAFI) and Registered Gas Distribution Professional.
He has served on the National Fire Protection Association's Technical Committee on Fire Investigations (NFPA921) for nine years and continues to participate in task group activities. He is also a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Single- and Multiple-Station Alarms and Household Fire Alarm Systems (part of NFPA 72), the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, the National Fire Protection Association Industrial Section, the Americana Society of Gas Engineers, and the International Pyrotechnics Society.
Before founding FX Engineering, Mr. Mniszewski spent eleven years with Triodyne Fire and Explosion Engineers and Varley-Campbell & Associates, where his work involved both Fire Protection Engineering and forensic fire/explosion investigation. Prior to that, he spent ten years as a Research Engineer with the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute (IITRI). His work there included government and industrial research projects involving hazards analysis, risk assessment, Fire Protection Engineering issues, smoke detection technology, gas industry fire/explosion issues, explosives technology, and explosives technology development for both military & civilian applications.
Today, Mr. Mniszewski continues to provide expert analysis, investigation and engineering consultation for complex fire and explosion issues nationwide as well as foreign countries.
