Kim R. Mniszewski, P.E.
Mr. Mniszewski is the president of FX Engineering, Inc.. He holds a B.S. in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering and a Master of Gas Technology Engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the states of Illinois and Michigan. He is a past member of the National Fire Protection Association's Technical Committee on Fire Investigations (NFPA 921), and is still involved in task group activities. He is also actively involved in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, the National Fire Protection Association, the International Association of Arson Investigators, the International Code Council and the International Pyrotechnics Society. Most recently, he has achieved the certification of Registered Gas Distribution Professional.
Prior to his present position, Mr Mniszewski spent eleven years with Triodyne Fire and Explosion Engineers and Varley-Campbell & Associates where his work involved both Fire Protection Engineering and forensic fire/explosion investigation. Before that, he spent ten years as a Research Engineer with the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute. His studies there included research projects involving hazards analysis, risk assessment, fire protection problems, smoke detection technology, gas industry fire/explosion problems, explosives and explosive device development.
Mr. Mniszewski also spent a year as the Corporate Fire Protection Engineer for the Continental Grain Company where he was involved in dust fire/explosion prevention and loss investigation. He has also served as an instructor in the Department of Fire Protection and Safety Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology for eight years.
